“Dark rainbow bliss in the sea”,
comes to me in a dream, and so I hear
its poignant call.
Such heartfelt melodies;
soulful – sad songs, each to each.
Sequences – phrases repeated
time on time, and so they vocalise –
he to she.
But of what does he sing?
This – a secret she will carry
to her grave –
a secret old as the waves...
forever hers for the keeping
and ours for the asking;
she who carries their calves inside...
she who chooses not to harmonise.
And I awoke, wondering what it was
called to me; the songs, or the silence?
Yet, I would follow them, if I could,
to that place where the deepest waters
are the darkest blue.
(The first line from D.H. Lawrence’s poem, ‘Whales Weep Not!’)

I remember , as child, hearing whale song on a small record that came with the edition of a National Geographic. It is so fascinating. They are such wonderful creatures and surrounded by a lot of mystery.
I like your poem very much and it was so good to be reminded of these majestic animals.
