Autumn's Canvas

Seeking pleasure
Autumnal spirit,
Avant-garde
Concept
Manifesting
Unconventionally
With untamed
Indulgence,
As sunlight dims
Mellow shades
Nestle through
Woodland and
Forest,
Steadfastly
Endeavoring
To dapple
Pigments
Of leaves,
Before weary
Branches fade.
Those berries
Ripened for
Sticky fingers...
Licked with joy
From hedge
And bush
Down
Memory Lane,
Till evening
Leads us
Home again.
Now Autumn's
Canvas is complete,
Embrace reds, those
Golden russet browns,
Honeyed promises,
Indulge yourself before
Frosty snow
Once more appears.

Memory lane and anticipation.
Memory lane and anticipation. Welcome thoughts in the heat and dusty tiredness of high summer. The fresh colours of spring have gone, though many beautiful full gardens still, but the mellowness of autumn shades and fruit is already starting. Found some huge blackberries a few yards from home yesterday! Rhiannon

Love ‘mellow shades’ and
Love ‘mellow shades’ and ‘honeyed promises’, the thought of berries is very autumnal. I think overall that autumn and winter are my favourite seasons. This certainly helps me look forward to both.

Nice and sensual, Jenny. Do
Nice and sensual, Jenny. Do you know Keats famous poem Ode to Autumn. A time of mists and mellow fruitfulness.

That's interesting! I used to
That's interesting! I used to like making pictures all the time, too, but now seem to have forgotten even the will to try. Autumn and Spring used to be like a need. I still love colours, and looking at things. I would love to see your work, imagine it must be very rich and joyful like your writing. I wonder if you have trouble with the heat because you are so in tune with Nature, and it struggles when so hot and dry

It's great getting new glasses, isn't it, like wiping the windscreen :0) Your work will suddenly be full of tiny details :0)

Hi Jenny
Hi Jenny
Lovely poem. I never think of writing a one or two word per line but it works very well for this.
