Dear diary...Wednesday 18th December 2024. It's been seven weeks since my hip replacement. I can't thank the surgeon enough, he's given me a new lease of life and feeling alive again.

Back in June being struck down with weeks of endless chesty coughing left a cold dark tunnel of depression, not able to see a light at the end, but holding on trying to stay positive with the help and uplifting personality of my partner who would raise my spirit.
 
Even though my biggest fear was confirmed...I did have arthritis in my right hip, which I was already aware of back at the beginning of 2024, but unable to go ahead due to the many set backs. All I kept thinking was; I must take the bull by the horns and keep optimistic, then one day I'll spread my wings...so to speak, and fly.
 
Being hit with pneumonia taught me that good health is the most important aspect of life, nothing compares. Finding myself bedridden, now gives me enthusiasm to keep moving and enjoying life again, even the simple things like shopping, cooking and house cleaning are special.
 
Finally after two lots of antibiotics, my bug left me, though it left me extremely weak, wondering if I'd ever be able to breathe in the forest and woodland air, or even walk along the ridgeway.
But my hip replacement awaited with open arms, and I felt like I'd come out the other side of pain. Now I can't stop smiling and feel excited about Christmas and cooking the dinner with all the trimmings.
 
No more pain in my hip, knee or back, just a need to keep moving and enjoying the season. How lucky I feel...no more sitting around or lying in bed for hours feeling sorry for myself.
 
I'm raring to go walking in the forest and woods, but taking it day by day, not pushing myself too far, but loving life now.

Glad you are so much better, Jenny. Pain and illness ceratinly make us appreciate freedom from it the more. Many troubles in this life, but much wonder and joy too, and good when we have human support and companionship and help, and medical, and divine. Rhiannon

Your words are wise Rhiannon. We humans all need each other. Thankfully I have a partner who not only loves to help and support me, but he's always lifting my spirits.

When it comes to health 2024 will go down as a year of many ups and downs, of which have been a big learning kerb.

I'm so sorry I've taken so long to reply to your kind comment. I've been keeping on the move, no longer able to sit for too long with all the excitement of being able to move around without pain...it's such a wonderful feeling getting my independence back, as you can imagine.

Haven't even been able to sit long enough to write anything. Just hope I get inspired in 2025.
