Charms Of The Season

Enchanting fairy lights
flooding Christmas
cheer, as I amble down
garden path exposed in
December's chill.
Spruce tree brings
countless blessings;
when recalling
impressions of seasons
festive past,
energy that's pleasing,
feeding memories
that are scattered like
many breadcrumbs for
the birds.
Robin's wisdom chanted
in a song, igniting
nostalgic forest walks;
where fragrance of pine
grants scent to meditate on,
while reflecting at my
kitchen window,
welcoming playful
blackbird...who stirs
muddy leaves, that
no longer dance
within a breeze.
Swiftness of visions
surrendering to thrill,
recalling finding many
pine cones to adorn my
table wreath.
Coming back
to awareness...
looking up,
Kite swoops
briefly in
murky sky,
somewhere inside;
I too glide across
those many
lingering cheery days,
consuming each one
with pleasure,
though sometimes
recollections are a haze.
May the
WINTER SOLSTICE
bring
MANY BLESSINGS
and
SHINE A LIGHT
YOUR WAY.
WISHING EVERYONE
at ABC TALES,
a very
MERRY CHRISTMAS
and a
PROSPEROUS
NEW YEAR.

Beautiful and happy Christmas
Beautiful and happy Christmas and New Year to you, too, Jenny! Thankyou so much for all your wonderful poems this year, including this one. I love how you liken the kite gliding, to your mind, remembering - you always find new and brilliant ways to describe things, perfectly. And everything you write including blackbirds makes me smile, you really catch their characters, for me

Jenny, there are so many
Jenny, there are so many poems about being young, in love, full of hope? Or of the despair of being old. But you write of being older with such grace, wisdom and gentleness, using beautiful imagery, that you make it seem possible that it might not be so frightening and bleak. Your poems are a light
