Cocktail Of Clouds And Rain

Dear diary...Sunday 22nd September 2019
On a peaceful Sunday
I awoke this morning,
stretched, then crept
out of warm bed,
dancing in my head
lively significant
thoughts of rain
drumming on our
kitchen skylight,
giving way to desire
of unhurried stroll
along leisurely
neighbouring
pavements,
step out front door
spirit of rain restores,
letting happy steps
welcome sound of
streaming bursts,
crackling on umbrella
like rice krispies in milk.
Watch as blackbird,
blue tit and sparrow
splash in birdbath,
I see pleasure and
joy during their antics,
gazing down glimpse
amicable grey clouds,
trees and rooftops
reflected within
liquid mirrors,
pearls trickle,
trace each drop
of tranquil calm
descending in
rings of puddles.
Rose peeps from
behind a wall,
appears to be
smiling...if
only at me,
then as I pass
another flush
of pink seems
to give out a
silent cheer
that only
I hear,
Graveyard's never
looked so fresh
against lush grass,
each flowering petal
vibrant in richness
as they gather
commemorating
loved ones,
I too on my
soothing walk
stop to gaze,
reminiscing
on times past,
remembering
mum and dad,
once again while
greeting cocktail
of clouds and rain.

I like how you carry the sound of the rain all through (specially "crackling " on your umbrella) and all the bright pictures of birds and flowers and grass. The way you describe the graveyard, is beautiful, not sad at all. I love that

How an umbrella makes a walk
How an umbrella makes a walk in the rain enjoyable and enables the viewing of all that is around outside our bubble of shelter! You took me with you on your refreshing stroll. Rhiannon

I love a rainy day when all things are renewed with the drenching. Your poetic descriptions accurately painted a grey, yet still colorful, walk in the rain and I enjoyed walking it with you. I felt the sadness in your words at the memory of lost parents and the tug of irony at the image of a lush with blooming life graveyard that allowed you another pespective of it. Very lovely poem Jenny.

droughts
To me it sounds like heaven we have severe droughts over large parts of South-Africa. It is really bad they say it's climate change due to global warming, a convenient reason for everything.
Cheers Jennifer, enjoy the rain while you can,
&& Nolan

Rain!
Rain! Highveld afternoon showers build up very quickly but I saved my washing! Wonder if there will be a rainbow?
Hope things are well Jenny! Tom Brown
