The rhythm and beating of the earth, had once more been restored, almost as if nothing had happened. As man and boy sat around the camp fire eating their fish, on a cold night with only the stars above them.
Simon turned to Brad and asked, “Father! Who are those watchers you
keep telling me about? Where do they come from and what do they look like?”
Brad stared up into the night sky, there seemed to be a million stars blinking in the darkness. “Son I really cannot answer your question. All I know is...they look like us, but on that day they came, I have a vague recollection of them wearing strange clothes, though it was so long ago.” Brad took a bite of his fish, enjoying the taste...he so loved fish. “If your grandmother's stories are true, they are supposed to be our ancestors, but I don't know...there is really no proof, apart from stories. It could all be just a legend.”
As they stared up into the sky, they could only wonder. They could never have known how different their two worlds were.

The surface of Obsidian, was made up of crystals, dust and lakes of many colours. Crystals grew by the lakes, their colours many and varied shapes and sizes, almost majestic looking, as they towered out of the ground.
The different coloured crystals, affected the colour of the water, so depending what crystal grew by which lake, would depict the colour of the water. It was quite spectacular to see, though the people of Obsidian, didn't really notice it.
When Obsidian's sun shone on the crystals, a rainbow of colours would bounce around the earth and lakes, to anyone who had never seen it, it would be amazing to watch.
The planet had two moons, which also meant Obsidian had double the amount of rainfall. The lakes were never empty, though the water itself had to be filtered in order to drink.
The only knowledge you would have of existence of human life, were the large domed...crystal roofs in the ground.
Below people came and went, living their lives. They had built a thriving indoor city. The people of Obsidian had very little reason to venture to the surface any more, preferring the safeness under ground.
A maze of corridors led you to where you needed to go. Everywhere was sign posted. The people looked after their city, all around it was clean, with brightly painted walls and greenery. There were fresh flowers in large pots along the passageways. Synthesizer music played out from speakers in the ceiling.
Also along the passageways, were gardens behind crystal glass, where exotic birds flew, butterflies and bees flit amongst the flowers.
Then there were shops and homes...restaurants and virtual reality cinemas, where you could watch films of life on the old earth and also the new world, to be able to imagine your own adventures as you wander your own virtual world.
Any trouble on Obsidian, was soon tackled. The victim would be taken and re-programmed, life would once more be restored.
