No Longer Alone

Ah Me !Ah My!
Grandpa yearns for
days gone by...now
he's pushing
seventy two
there's much
we have to
help him do,
Dad said that
it would be just,
if he came and
lived with us,
Mum thinks he
is a treasure,
his stories always
give her pleasure,
Once when shopping
with Grandpa...he
started singing
down the isle;
“Bring me sunshine
in your smile...
bring some
laughter all the while.”
He loves the replays
of Morcambe and Wise,
the ones where he laughed
till tears left his eyes,
he doesn't understand the
way things are today...in
a world of technology
he's lost his way,
but as long
as he has his
very own TV,
with six hundred
channels he is happy...
there's sky in the bedroom,
also downstairs, the seventies
reruns are what he prefers.
Now moving house
is no easy task,
though using ones mate,
saying Right Said Fred,
be aware there might be
displacement but don't
see red, also the removal
of doors for the electronic bed,
Items don't always go out
the way they came in,
especially from a flat pack
that was built from within,
the best strategies don't
always go to plan,
if you hit a conundrum
you need an expert man,
then there's the bed
that's run by electric...
Grandpa's antics are
so esoteric, he loves
the massage in his
bed and his chair...
relaxing those
muscles without a care,
but his favourite
amusement is
to go up and
then down,
where he
imagines
being on
a ride at the
fairground,
Grandpa loves
that bed so much,
his remote control
you mustn't touch,
I think we'll need to
take out the pane,
remove him and
the bed with a crane,
He would love
flying through the air...
with the wind blowing,
ruffling his hair,
to top it all off when
he arrives at our home,
I hope he'll be happy
no longer alone.

Sounds a proper 'Right said
Sounds a proper 'Right said Fred' kind of job! Enjoyed the interwoven thoughts about Grandpa (600 channels to flit through!), with the imaginations of the move! Loved the vision of him flying through the air. We once looked at a house one would have to have a crane to get the bed in or out of the window, because of the very narrow twisty stairs. Rhiannon

Jenny this is a gem, and it's
Jenny this is a gem, and it's obvious you had great fun writing it. Must have been a lot of hard work though, and it has paid off. It was a joy to read from beginning to end, and made me chuckle, and feel a bit melancholy all at the same time.
Very much enjoyed.

ah, Jenny, I think you just wrote this off the top of your head, about a man you admired who didn't want to leave his bed and instead you bring joy to others with your uppers and downers sometimes we clowners have got to stick together.
