Sexy, passionate red gives light

to those spicy ladies of the night,

subliminal crimson mantilla lace

lifts her spirits to another place,

 

cherry wax dissolving everywhere

as candle flame rises licks warm air,

she pours full bodied rich red wine

from bottle of claret that's so refined,

 

then diary upon her bedside table lays

where locked red velvet journal stays

memoirs of a stirring life she's owned

and all the fiery men she's ever known,

Jack's comment about the red of tooth and claw struck me, Jenny. I sensed the red of danger and short-lived excitement, rather than the red of loving faithful passion! Thought-provoking and well composed. Rhiannon

Hi Rhiannon, 

I'm glad you found this poem thought provoking. As you say there's two sides to the colour red, it can be loving and faithful but also dangerous and risky.

I suppose the idea of the riskier side just came to me first in this poem. Thank you for reading and your comment.
