Proud Nation

Once willingly we wandered those
barren lands with self determination,
respecting Mother Earth, only deriving
what was needed in Spring time of
our growing,
woods – hills – lakes and forests
were sacred places providing food
and shelter...buffalo were our saviour
from harsh Winter when snow would fall.
But then white man left us weeping,
with their greed they took land we once
roamed, lost and confused rain mingled
with our tears for our once home,
as soldiers approached with guns
bows and arrows could not withstand;
so we were at their mercy our people
perished like decay breaking down,
all that was left was deceit...white mans tricks
leaving us with shame. Yes! They've taken
from our ancestral realm which was hard to tolerate,
but never the soul of our proud nation will they be
allowed to take.

you've got the war paint on
you've got the war paint on Jenny. I guess the different tribes of the Indian nations fought and died to protect their own and their way of life. They stood in the way of 'progress'.
