Broken shell

Empty nest

Put your faith

To the test

Take your first flight

And fly it blind

Go your own way

Ignore the signs

Say a prayer

Choose a church

Listen to a preacher

On a perch

Take those words

With a pinch of salt

They will abandon you

And say it’s your fault

The righteous are often wrong

But never in name

If you’re not with them

You’ll get the blame

Christians in suits

In a Sunday morning court

Passing judgements

Without a second thought

Looking down on those

Who make them sigh

If you hold out your hand

They’ll turn a blind eye

And sing their hymns

With truth denied

Their God it seems

Is only on their side
