Earth Lies

If we walk the same path

For a thousand years

With narrow eyes fixed

Above silent lips that stick

Below closed ears

What would you learn?

If others follow you

Without changing direction

Does this mean you lead?

Or that strangers take heed

Are we afraid of rejection?

What do we know?

If only your word is taken

And no one raises a hand

Is there any point worrying

About the danger of ignorance

In someone else’s hands

What is right or wrong?

Life follows death

This is history’s tale

The shovel in the graveyard

The hammer hitting

The coffins nail

What should we have done?
