She said she won’t be hanging round

In this town

It always looks up to a blackened sky

This town she said will not see me die

Before I’ve lived

Macey Levens looked to the heavens

Always said there is no god

Always thought it was odd

To believe in something you can’t see

Macey Levens said to me

She said she liked John  Fender

Handsome and tall

Destined to fall

For someone mild and meek

She said I’m too strong to be weak

Macey Levens at sixes and sevens

Never liked things to stick

True love was a trick

That cannot set you free

Macey Levens said to me

I drove her to the station

Watched her board the train

She laughed at the sky so black

I knew she wouldn’t be back
