Oh Lord - a country blues song

Oh Lord
Oh Lord won’t you save me from going insane
I’ve just lost my wife and I’ve just missed a train
Oh lord won’t you tell me what is my name
And am I supposed to be part of this game
There’s trouble ahead and smoke in my eyes
I’m tired and sleepy and worn out with lies
If bullshit was measured by disease and surprise
Then lord please forgive me I’m covered in flies
Oh lord you’re asking that maybe I should pray
Just to hide those things that won’t go away
Could you just advise me on the cards that I play
And if the sun shines so brightly should I really make hay
Oh Lord won’t you save me from going insane
I’ve just lost my wife I’ve just missed a train
Oh lord won’t you tell me what is my name
And am I supposed to be part of this game
I remember the days when I was too young
And life was ignored for the sake of some fun
We didn’t need religion or the choice of a gun
Just a handful of love a beer and the sun
Along came the children and the guilt of it all
I stood lanky and awkward I knew I would fall
It’s a rite of passage it’s an educated call
It’s the shortest of tales that somehow grew tall
There’s newspaper stories that tend to agree
That mixed up parents will struggle to be free
There is the complication of you and just me
So god knows` what’ll happen when baby makes three
Oh Lord won’t you save me from going insane
I’ve just lost my wife I’ve just missed a train
Oh lord won’t you tell me what is my name
And am I supposed to be part of this game
