Paper Plane

I remember you from school
You were the one who caught my paper plane
I wanted to leap on to your smile
And proclaim my love
If only I knew what that meant
The teacher confiscated
My aerodynamic craft
She wasn’t impressed
This made you laugh
And me gulp…again
I remember the next time I flew
A paper plane towards you
I was proud of my flight plan
When it landed on your desk
I drew a kiss on each wing
There was a hammer in my chest
You put the plane in your bag
And waved back at me
I wished I was on that flight
Just be close to you
I remember standing in the rain
With an even bigger paper plane
I was waiting at the gate
I flew the plane straight to you
You caught it in your hands
Then kissed me on the cheek
I didn’t wash my face for a week
I was flying high above the stars
Those planes were built on love
I wonder where you are
