I was fishing for a star
Swimming in a sky darkest blue
I was hoping to catch one
And give it to you
The shine and the sparkle
Would light up your eyes
The Moon would crack a smile
And catch you by surprise
You could carry your gift
Like a goldfish from a fair
Checking the bowl every minute
To see if the star is still there
I’d tell you not to worry
Your star will not die
If you ever lost it
There’s plenty more in the sky
Put the star by your pillow
Leave the curtains open wide
Let the night be your firefly
That came along for the ride
