This music. It's beautifully balanced,

but it doesn't have the wamth of your arms

or your rushing laughter's heady buzz.

If I lose myself in it for a moment,

I can picture how this afternoon

could be: dozing, making love, blissing out.

I can hear the wind outside, but

I can't hold it. Sometimes, days without you

drag me, shambling, through. Modulating synths

and chilled, drummy fingers of rain blown

against these windows form a counterpoint

to a distant voice - yours - way up in the mix.

I imagine tomorrow again;

seeing you and holding you once more

(nothing else is like having you close).

I will step out of this cold, rain-filled air,

drenched with music, take you in my arms,

and feel your lips on my lips as we kiss.
