A Nightingale's Moon

When the moon was full and shining bright at night she grew more lonely than ever. The stars twinkled high up in the heavens and tried to cheer her up in her time of desolation but it was all in vain after all. She became more lonesome than ever, still. ‘Who will keep me company and cheer me up in these dark and cold night hours. It is chilly up here though I shine on in all my glory. Will no-one serenade me and sing me a lovely love song from the heart on these dark and misty nights. A beautiful song for all those lost and wandering souls out there. Will there be no comfort for my forsaken and lonely soul ever?’ Just then the beautiful Nightingale alighted on the drooping branches of an old willow tree with the moon shining clear and splendid above him. ‘I have just lost my mother and father in a great storm passing. My brothers and sisters too it seems. I too am more lonesome and lonely than anyone can ever tell. Let us keep each other company forever on these dark and barren nights with all other souls sleeping soundly and peacefully in the darkness of the night.’ And so the Nightingale began singing his wonderful song to the cold and lonely moon above as she was shining bright and full of wonder. And to this day that lovely nightingale can still be heard voicing its lovely lonesome tune under the heavens and stars with each full moon each long lonely season of love and loneliness. The moonlight serenades to fill the whole world with beauty and wonder always. The lover of the moon and the stars he will always be. The lost soul of love and loneliness in the dark cold nights above.
