The ratrace that is our lives

You are only the way you are because other people make you that way, you say that you are an individual, and there is nobody else like you. But is that because everyone else thinks that there is nobody else like you? You get up everyday and join the ratrace, making money, spending money, trying to find the cheese, but then you get trapped. Trapped in ordinary mundane everyday conformity. It's not your fault though. There is no way out. The second you try to escape they will lock you up. And make you obey them. See people are funny. They try to be different, but we all have the same problems and worries and health issues, blah blah blah. Do we only worry about these things because we know no different, because our parents and their parents before them have taught us this?
Is this really how we all want to be? Or are we like this because we don't know how to be any other way. People live for the power and the money, but is that really what they want? Or is it because society needs you to have it. Because of the way we have all evolved to be part of this madness. Life is one big material. According to everyone that is ' but take a step back.
Time, emotion, life, our mere existence all came from an idea someone had one day. Who is to say that this isn't all bollocks? But because we know no better, we agree. What would happen if we didn't have this stuff? It would be chaos people say ' but who is to know. What about before all this stuff existed?
Apparently we only use a tenth of our brains, we are wasting 90% of ourselves, we could be psychic and we could move objects with our minds, but the lives we lead have suppressed this and will keep on doing so. We are clever. But are we really? We could be so much more than we are, if only we 'put out minds to it.' (Or so to speak!)
In respect of the last comment, I sometimes wonder about people we class as mad and insane. Have you ever thought that these people might have just unlocked another part of their brain that the rest of us don't use? Maybe they understand a lot more than us 'ordinary' people do. Madness is just a tag given to people we don't understand. To them, we are probably the mad ones.
We say that we are the most intelligent species, yet we know nothing about who we are and where we come from. Who decided what intelligence actually is anyway?
We are too hung up on the little pointless lives we have moulded for ourselves that we will never find out. We are scared. Of not understanding, and of change.
As a species living together we are divided by prejudice. Because of this world we have all helped to create. And each day, people get greedier and more selfish. We fight each other over race and money. We fight over pieces of land which didn't belong to us in the first place. We use all the earths' resources, which were never given to us. Just because we live here, doesn't make it all ours.
Who the hell gave someone permission to take oil and gas and water and charge us for using it? The economy is a joke. But yet we all follow and abide by it because there is no other way now. You don't see dolphins selling fish and monkeys opening banana stores. And in the same respect, animals may fight, but they don't go to war.
Why is there someone constantly telling us how to run our lives and how to live? Our life is the only thing that is truly ours; surely we should have the freedom and choice to use it how we please. Maybe you enjoy the rat race, wasting your life in a sweaty office, taking commands from someone who is only qualified because someone else said so. Maybe you like being part of a web of various ideas which have mounted up over the millions of years we have existed. Maybe you don't even realise. In that case you probably belong in the rat race.
It's never going to change. You will always live to someone else's ideas. There is no escape. Not until you are dead anyway, and even then, it will be someone else deciding that you are.
Take a step back every once in a while. Things didn't need to be like this, we are all guilty of making it this way.
