Caravaggio, he say, duel I fought,
between right and wrong, alas it was
all for nought.
Now I paint in brown and chalky white,
look to the skies and the faces
of the downtrodden, barefoot scamps and rogues proud
for my inspiration. And breathe,
with the sigh of times past and present, and think,
will things remain the same.
