I searched
for a church
that would give me some warmth and love in my time of need
But all that I got
was a lot
of suggestions on verses and books I should read.
I wanted an ear
Just to hear
What I said. Not to comment or judge or advise
But something inside
Must have died
For they all seemed unable to stomach my cries.
I needed an arm
Just to calm
My fears and to let me know I was OK
But all I could see
Was them pointing at me
And attempting to find things to say.
I needed a friend
Just to lend
Me a shoulder to cry on when everything hurt
But no one was there
In my pit of despair
Cos they just couldn't cope with the dirt.
