Night-Worker

Like nocturnal owls with wide eyes
watching and waiting, expecting
the activity they are paid for.
The kettle never stops bubbling -
piles of teabags diminishing visibly.
When the sun does climb,
the night worker's eyes falter
at last - bedtime is near.
