The bell rings and our lesson ends,
So I descend
Along faded corridors
And out the door.
A sodden grey courtyard,
There isn’t room for two
I know this, yet I wait for you,
A spark – and smoke
Alone.
Doors swing open, clang against cold iron,
Drips drop down and I follow with my eyes,
WARNING: LOVE IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE
A sigh,
I breathe out in false hope and smoke dances around my forehead,
It protects me and surrounds
fills in my furrowed brows,
LOVE SERIOUSLY DAMAGES HEART AND LUNGS
A rush to my head,
Strangers fill your space,
A flicker, a thrash,
My heart speeds,
I am to be pitied,
A spark – and smoke
Alone.
LOVE KILLS, KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN
