A butterfly flits flower to flower
in an Admirals uniform,
commanding attention.
Bees drone in the pansy-full rockeries;
solar powered soldiers coated in
pollen heavy finery.
A Robin bobs on the window sill,
watchful of any intruders;
a self-employed sentinel.
The Labrador splayed on the lawn,
tongue lolling, listless, quietly
panting; fetching forgotten!
Iced tea, with a hint of mint and lemon
forms a kaleidoscope prism;
weaving patterns on my chest.
The hammock creaks comfortably, gently;
in time with my breathing. And I
wish I could bask here forever.
