Shadows in the Darkness

The shadows in the darkness
marry devils to my mind,
where they dance on burning bridges,
built back...once upon a time.
I hear their hollow laughter,
and it echoes in my tears,
as the Happy Ever After,
flounders on my jagged fears.
The lighthouse beam is silent,
as the screams, within my eyes;
fate turned the dice-worn tables
and all future truths, are lies.
I would share with her my falsehoods,
though I hide from her my plight,
and the shadows in the darkness,
that would steal away her light.
