A Coach Trip Through Belgium
So much death for a small country;
The tour guide skirts around Heysel,
But Waterloo is fairly easy.
Blood's now art and painted models,
Though the *Panorama's 3-D
Trickery, almost makes war real.
Onto Ypres and Passchendale;
Fearful names, now warmly still,
On a peaceful EC summer's day.
The hell and shells of Flanders' fields,
A slimy, muddy, evil tale.
Date mostly written: 1992
* An epic circular collage in Waterloo's museum.
