Good Friday 1986
Wandering round Presto's with tears in my
eyes,
A knife and fork carving up my insides.
I'm sure I've seen that cashier on TV;
When you said 'no' last night, how I cried.
They shot her manager at point-blank range;
Got to get a job soon, or it's suicide.
That looks okay, that special offer cheese.
I try listening at the deli counter,
Ego wrapped round myself like a cobra.
That guy who kicked me yesterday at Smiths,,
While I was reading their papers. No sorries;
Just start smashing people in the teeth.
I'm sick of choking, do it - don't worry.
Laugh and the world's full of love and lobster.
Now I remember what we did last year;
Rehearsed, couldn't buy any booze, argued ...
Then you went home, and hey guess what, dude!
I'm back at the flat, alone, again.
A three hour wait with a one-hour can.
Watching a load of celluloid on the box,
A jumpy kid with his short-fused dad;
Around The World in 80 Days
-(Mike Todd).
Oh God, my eyes are beginning to swim,
No wonder Jesus jacked it in.
