Just a pretty picture...

Sunlight penetrates a gap in the blinds,
Ricochets off your picture on the wall.
Although your smile is bright, your cheeks rosy,
Your eyes are vacant, you're not there at all.
Your mind is somewhere else, so far away,
Even though your arm's around my shoulders.
Sun's shining, you laugh and smile outwardly,
Yet inside, your heart is growing colder.
You're freezing up every feeling for me,
But you dare say you love me anyway.
Just a substitute for the love you want,
There's no meaning behind the words you say.
The dying sunlight filters through the blinds,
Highlights the false happiness in your eyes.
Plastic smile, the kiss on my cheek's an act,
Who the hell said that photographs don't lie?
