A POEM OF CONCERN by Trevor Jensen
My generation is in danger of dieing from asphyxiation
By the very people who run this even greater nation.
So I write this poem of concern to those who want to learn
For those who care about our earth and do not want to see nature burned
Our environment is our most precious and priceless treasure
But sadly enough, this priceless treasure could be lost forever.
Going out as a little kid I had enjoyed seeing the majestic mountains
And even going out to enjoy some of nature's fountains.
As I kid, I loved looking at all of that mesmerizing snow
Nature sure has put on quite a good show.
Thinking back when nature was not nearly as thrashed
I could always look forward to enjoying Mother Nature more than cash.
Today is a much different day than yesterday
As today, we are blinded by our own power.
We go out and buy our oversized S.U.V.s,
Showing her who's boss and intimidating animals as we please.
Because we as humans have made such great advances
We think we rule the world and take others as an advantage.
But all of this power is nothing if we don't respect our elders
Who have kept us alive by providing us with ages of shelter.
Some of us believe we are causing global warming
While the others think we are false and boring.
When I asked people about the issue of serious climatic changes
Some simply said, "too bad, even if true, it wont happen for ages.
And that is the attitude that makes me think of them as rude
They fail to realize how much our generation is being abused.
Our sea to shining sea is becoming polluted with greed
As we ourselves never even lose sleep about an increase in algae.
We cut down as many trees we can,
But I must warn you, nature has a devious plan!
