The walk to remember

It was ten minutes to midnight,
Everything was so still, so quiet.
Walking hand in hand ,
Towards a destination unknown,
Everything special about the moment,
Especially of not being alone.
We kept talking of the things of the east and the west,
And then the gaze which made me forget the rest.
Our eyes locked,
Our hands entangled into each others,
And our thoughts talking to each other,
Rather than mouths.
You smiled, you shied and in a couple of minutes,
We were back to our senses.
There was a constant cloud cover,
High above in the sky,
The moon almost trying to hide,
Just like a child so shy.
I looked at it,
Then your lovely face,
In a dilemma to decide which looked better you
Or that eternal body in space.
('You' surely was the right one to choose)
We kept talking,
The road kept moving,
The time kept rolling
The topic kept changing.
It was midnight,
It was time,
I leaned forward,
And sang our usual chime,
'Will you be my life, my love?
I'll always treat you like a dove.
My love for you is forever and ever.'
And sealed it with a kiss.
You smiled, you shied,
We hugged and carried on 'the' walk.
'The weather to remember.
The night to remember.
The walk to remember,' ......
