Christmas Stockings

On Christmas Eve, when kids are sleeping
then Christmas stockings all come creeping
down from above their fireplaces
and hold fun Christmas stocking races.

 

Thats when they go prancing and dancing
marching, like merry troops advancing;
like ballerinas, leap and twirl
or skip a rope like little girls.

 

They have a snowball football match
in which goal keeper mittens catch
or on the ice outside, go skating
as, for Old Santa Clause, they're waiting.

 

And when they hear his "Ho! Ho! Ho!"
they jingle bells upon their toes
and all line up so he can fill them
with sweets and toys for little children.

 

Then when the sun comes up again
they hang themselves back up and then
prepare for all the joy that they
bring girls and boys on Christmas day.
