The Gifts Of The Prince

There was once a beautiful princess named Rodanna and she was loved by a prince named Jaykus.
But the Princess had a jealous gnome guardian called Igwald who didn't want Jaykus to win the princess's heart.
So every time Jaykus brought Rodanna a gift, Igwald would use gnome magic to sabotage it.
The first time Jaykus brought the Princess a beautiful bunch of roses but Igwald cast a spell on them that made them turn into revolting smelling weeds and so the Princess angrilly rejected them, saying, "Jaykus, how could you give me such a foul smelling gift? Go away, I'm very angry with you".
But then, the next day, Jaykus brought the princess a huge and beautiful, sparkling diamond.
Again, however, Igwald used his gnome magic and turned the diamond into a lump of coal just as Jaykus was about to show it to the princess.
And yet again, the princess was very angry.
"What would I want with a horrible old lump of coal?", she said, throwing the coal lump at Jaykus, "Go away and take your stupid coal with you".
But Jaykus wouldn't give up for then he painted a beautiful portrait of the princess to give to her.
However, once more Igwald used his gnome magic and put a spell on the portrait turning it into a picture of a horrible, ugly monster.
So when Prince Jaykus, giving her the gift, said to the Princess, "I present you with a portrait that I painted of you to show what you look like to me" and the Princess looked at it, she was very insulted.
"What?", she said, "You think I look like an ugly, horrible monster? How dare you?".
And this time she was so angry with the prince that she had him thrown out of her palace.
Oh the poor prince, he just couldn't understand why all the nice gifts he gave to the princess turned into nasty ones.
But the prince was so desperately in love with the princess that he couldn't give up trying to win her heart.
And so the next day he came to the palace saying that he bore one last gift for her.
Immediately, Igwald put a gnomish curse upon the princes gift.
But the Prince merely knelt before the princess and said, "Whatever I give you it always seems to go wrong and so all I can give you is my true and undying love".
And because a curse cannot be put upon a love thats true, Igwalds curse turned around and cursed him instead, turning him into a hopping toad.
Whats more, the princess was very happy with the princes gift.
"Thats all that I ever wanted", she said, smiling and, getting up from her throne, embracing him fondly.
After that Igwald went off to live in a swamp with other toads and the Prince and Princess were married and lived happily ever after.
