Jobert and Ronathan

Once, a long time ago, a mother had twin sons named Jobert and Ronathan who she loved very dearly and every night she would sing a lullaby to them in their cots,
"Lullaby, lullaby, past the stars that glow. Lullaby, lullaby, off to dreamland go".
Oh and the two sons were so very happy but one day the boys were playing hide and seek in the forest and, while Jobert was covering his eyes and counting to a hundred, Ronathan went off to find somewhere to hide and he found a cave to hide in but sadly it was the cave of a lion and Ronathan was killed.
And after the body of Ronathan was found and buried, Jobert was told that he must never say his name within the house.
"It is taboo to speak the names of lost ones", his mother told him, "For they may hear their names being called and wake up and then their spirits could find no rest again".
And so the name Ronathan was never spoken in their house and Joberts dead brother was only ever referred to as "your brother".
But then, one day Joberts mother married a wicked man who only wanted her families money and, when Joberts mother died, fearing that the inheritance would go to Jobert, he drugged the boy and placed him in a barrel that he weighted down and put into a lake and, because it was weighted down, the barrel sunk to the bottom of the lake.
But then, waking up inside the barrel, Jobert started to panic and, because he didn't know what else to do he shouted out the name of his brother.
And the moment he did the spirit of Ronathan heard someone calling his name and woke up, rising from his tomb and then, realising that his brother was in peril, he dived down under the lake and lifted up the barrel, then he split it open with a shriek and freed Jobert.
At first, seeing the apparition of his brother standing over him, Jobert was frightened but then he apologized and thanked his brother for saving him.
"You are welcome", said Ronathan, "But how will I get back to sleep now that my spirit has been awakened".
Just then, however, Jobert remembered the lullaby that their mother had sung to them in the cot as infants and he started to sing that to his brother,
"Lullaby, lullaby, past the stars that glow. Lullaby, lullaby, off to dreamland go".
And he sang it very softly just as their mother had and, when he did, the spirit of Ronathan, yawning and stretching sleepily, closed its eyes and when it closed its eyes it disappeared.
But then Jobert wondered what he would do about his wicked stepfather who had tried to murder him and, suddenly, remembering his brother, he went to his house and peering through one of its windows he saw his stepfather sitting alone in a room celebrating, with a bottle of wine, the money that he thought he was going to inherit and, tapping upon the window, he called through it,
"Stepfather! Stepfather! It is me Jobert. I have come back from the dead to take the inheritance that is rightfully mine".
And, believing that Jobert really was a ghost, his stepfather pleaded,
"Take your inheritance but please leave me alone".
"I shall leave you alone if you leave my house and never come back but if you come back I will haunt you for the rest of your days", said Jobert.
And so the stepfather, leaving Joberts house, ran off into the night and never came back and Jobert reclaimed his inheritance, living happily ever after whilst the spirit of his brother, Ronathan, with the spirit of his mother and all their ancestors lived happily in heavens eternal home.
