Standing, perched upon the edge of the tall bridge, he looked down at the roaring dark river below; at the whirling white foam like torn paper and the wet, bulging, grey boulders, ready to jump.
Yesterday, he had made the decision that he had had enough of this worthless life he was living; spending every day lying on his bed feeling depressed about having no job; no girlfriend; being fat and ugly and thick; nothing to hope for; nothing to look forward to.
And now, nothing was going to stop him from doing it. He was going to jump. He was going to.
It was a simple motion; bending his knees and leaning forward and jumping. Then he was falling; his heart pounding; screaming as the ground rushed up towards him.
But, just then, the bungee cord snapped tight and he felt himself being yanked back upwards.
He’d had enough of being depressed. Now he wanted to take a real leap and give being happy a chance.
