Once a man, named Orseus offended Aphrodite and so the goddess cursed the man to fall in love with a single red rose.
And the man did not think it was a curse because the flower was so beautiful that it made him happy to be in its company.
But then, when the Summer had passed, the rose died and the man was driven mad with grief.
His friends all said to him, "But there are other roses just as beautiful. The fields are full of roses".
But the man replied, "That does me no good. The gods cursed me to love only that rose".
Sadly the man never recovered from his grief.
Moral: Beware of giving all of your heart to just one thing because all things are impermanent.
