Tale of a shipwrecked cat

A cat was stuck on an island
and so he built a boat
but when he tried to sail away,
sadly it would not float.
 
The boat it sank
beneath the waves
but thankfully
the cat was saved.
 
He swam and swam and swam some more
until, atlast, he swam ashore.

But he was still stuck on the island
and so he built a plane
but when he tried to fly away
the cats plan failed again.
 
The plane, it fell
out of the sky
but thankfully
he did not die.
 
The plane came crashing down but he
landed safe in a mango tree.
 
3.
 
But he was still stuck on the island
so he gave it one more try;
he built a fire on the beach
incase a ship sailed by.
 
And as he scanned
the sea with hope
looking through his
cat telescope.
 
A ship came sailing by, hooray
and on it that cat sailed away.

nicely done, rhymes well and I'm sure kids would enjoy it.

Just read celticman's comment. Ah, yes. Perfect. I was briefly in my reception class back in 1967 with Miss Young reading to her enraptured, cross-legged charges.
