Their first date was amazing. She kept checking her phone, to make sure they she wasn't crazy, nope, Jessie had forgotten about the date. "Ugghh" right when she was about to go inside, as if on cue, Jessie texted her. "Don't worry Kathryn I haven't forgotten, just a little delay. She blushed, and when she turned her head back towards the busy Saturday night streets, Jessie came riding by on his bike and called out "hey stranger! Need a ride?" Kat smiled and ran down the steps to meet him. "Hop on" he said and patted the handle bars.
They hadn't gone anywhere fancy, but that was perfect. They got food at one of the Vietnamese food trucks in uptown. Then Jessie took Kat to a field. Every square inch of it was covered in wildflowers. Red, orange, purple, pink. They were incredible. "Well, this is it" Jess was grinning while he talked "hope you like it" Kat was wonder struck. She had never seen anything like it. She laid down on the blanket of never ending color and pulled Jess down with her. "It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen". They lay there, Kat with her eyes closed, and Jessie watching her smiling. "I'm so sorry about your sister" he said the words so sincerely, she knew he meant it. "Thanks" Kat was crying, silently. Jess wrapped his arms around her, not in a "your so sexy way" but in a "your my friend and your need someone who understands" kinda way. Kat stood up. Jessie did the same. "Follow me" he said. She did. They started walking down the street. "Jessie!, Kathryn!, what up" Jimmy Walker was running down the street. He was probably the dumbest person in the whole school. Jock. "Fuck off" Kat said loudly. Jessie smirked. "Oh it's a foxy girlie, I'd like a piece of that" Jessie's smirk was gone "You heard her, Fuck of Walker" Jimmy seemed confused, but he continued down the gum covered sidewalk. Kat didn't even feel offended about what he said, in fact she pitied him. She pitied his stupidity. Jess clearly didn't feel the same way. "God what an ass" he had a discussed look on his face. "I don't know, he's definitely an ass, but he doesn't understand most of what he's saying so I figure it's more of 'aww I feel kinda bad for you sexist freakish self' " Jessie laughed, his smile back on point. "Cmon, let's continue our journey, which I know nothing about" Kat was referring to when they were still in the field and Jess had said "follow me" . "No" Jessie continued "I don't want to upset you again". Kat's face fell as she spoke. "What? Why would u upset me? This has been wonderful!". "Well..." He said nervously "I was going to take you to the graveyard, you know, since you were upset about it before." "It" was Emmie. "Oh, okay" she said. Kat started to walk back. "Wait, Kat!" Jess followed behind her "I only did it to make you feel better!" He grabbed a bundle of wildflowers he must of picked from the field form out of the pocket of his blue, gray skinny jeans. "I had meant to put these at Emmie's grave." The words came out barely a whisper. Kat turned around at that. The corners of her lips turned up the slightest bit. "Well than Mr. Jessie Keats, would be so kind enough to walk me home?" Then she added "to my empty house while my parents wake me up at 2 in the morning and throw up the last of their liquor on my bed?" She stifled a laugh. "I'd be glad to My lady" "I think old fashion dialogue has become an inside joke" Kat thinks, stifling a laugh.
