With such darkness

Drawn towards  

An obsidian core

Like osmosis

In charcoal 

Black words 

etched lightly 

To leave no mark

Gritty ground 

Cut feet

Pitted by bitter

Proclamations

Of adoration 

A hand wiped hastily 

Over salted cheeks 

Eyes that became fire

Within the pit
