I love that fungal image of family. And the way you effortlessly build up a scene, and ambiguity of backstory, in just a few sentences - and the way things like the private detective, Liam's worry, the 'ghosts of the past' all feed into and grow...
I enjoyed this a lot too - some fantastic lines, here, and I like the confusion of sentiment - insatiable addiction, half-hearted references to kicking, the emptied wallet and filthy mattress and double-breasted suit jacket.
This is very difficult, but nonetheless extraordinary interior. I like the hint of anorexia that comes in when the narrator hesitates before responding to the “I think your cool”. It deepens things, hints at the relation between a nebulous desire...

I think the problem may have been due to pasting in content directly from Microsoft Word, which has a lot of hidden but inbuilt coding. To do that, you have to click the 'paste from word'...
Really enjoyed the flip of perspectives here, David. The monkey line is a great bridge. And even though the concept is one that's been employed before, you put a new spin on it — I especially loved the hint of Prufrockesque reality that sneaks...
Loved the imagination in this piece. The history of an object projected from the mind of youth. Really enjoyed the opener - 'Who could have guessed that a small tree / could be so vicious?' (should there be a question mark?) - it's just such a...
There's no mistake - this should be our pick of the day - but looks like we've had a server error of some kind (which must have deleted a portion? ) apologies - I'll get it sorted ASAP and we'll have it up over the weekend. This is an incredible...

This is a great piece - reflective and stimulating. Some affecting thoughts about belief and the self, and a lot of good advice. Thanks for sharing!
