Singular (Inspiration Point) (7th November, 2008, 1.15pm)
Single.
Tick the box, choose a job, choose life…
it’s not always a choice, you know!
I swear at the page;
the screen lies, poised
to go for the jugular;
have you been facebooked yet?
Nineteen comments on my
lack of a partner;
it was only an edit, nothing has
altered, much.
Pride sneers.
They should brand us, really;
coin me a new word, please!
Here, I’ll mint one:
Singular.
No, not like Bridget-sodding-Jones;
it weighs more than a ton
on my shoudlerblades, folks!
I am singular.
I like being singular.
There’s less washing-up.

yeah i was facebooked, a tattoo application wanted me to sign up for a new dating application, but there wasn't an option to be searching electrical appliances so i gave it a miss - 'it weighs more than a ton on my shoulder blades' is wry, and the beginning reminded me of Trainspotting, also wry - and the ending, i like the appreciation of the greener grass, because being singular has its very good points (next person in a snuggly couplet who gives me a pitying look when i say that can kiss my Caramella..) Expressive write Jennifer, well done.
