I am, I’ll have you know,
a man of simple pleasures.
Not for me the razzmatazz
of discos or night clubs
and all that jazz.
I prefer to spend a lazy day
at home, in comfort,
listening to a play
on radio 4.
I do these kind of things
more and more
and these are the moments
that I treasure.
With a pair of well-worn
slippers on my feet
and reclining
in my favourite armchair,
I indulge in a few hours of leisure.
I still have a pipe by my side
- old habits die hard -
but it is empty
as I no longer smoke.
At the end the day
a cup of tea, Lapsang Suchong
or Earl Grey, will suit me fine.
I am, after all, an ordinary bloke.

'I do this kind of
'I do this kind of things'
should be either 'I do this kind of thing'
or 'I do these kind of things' - singular or plural?
And you are no ordinary bloke, dear Luigi, and I think your lazy day sounds just about perfect...!

Very nice this one Luigi.
Very nice this one Luigi. Wistful, but not sad. I especially liked your ordinary bloke's taste in tea.

Sounds just about perfect Luigi; in a way that is a little worrying haha! Relaxed and comfy sounding and something I will look forward to, when my eight year old grows more timbre in his vocal chords; I wonder if I will miss that piercing scream that goes through me like an electric shock, just as I am having an after dinner snooze in my abused favourite chair?
