Why I Loved Granny

I loved Granny, because she loved me and loved my cousins as well. Whenever I would go to visit her, I could tell that she always enjoyed the visits, that they made her feel loved. Also, by looking at the dresser that stood next to her living room chair, I could see that she loved us by her choice to put our pictures on top of that dresser. That was the chair she spent the most time in, so she must’ve looked at our pictures often.
I believe that there are times when you can clearly see how others feel towards you.
One such time was when Bradley gave Granny the metal star he made in shop class. I could tell that Granny genuinely loved and appreciated the fact that her grandson took the time to make it for her.
Also, the fact that granny kept the drawing that Laura made of that shell, showed her love as well.
Sometimes Granny’s love would come through the things she would give us at Christmas-time. Yes, some of the things she gave us were jokes…but others I am sure showed us how she felt toward us. I have a few of these gifts.
When I would visit granny, she would always ask what was new in my life. And if I told her I had accomplished anything I could tell she was proud of me. Even if I didn’t have anything to tell her in the way of an accomplishment, I could still tell she was proud of me. And I’m very sure that is how she felt towards my cousins as well. She was proud of all of us, no matter what.
If I have any memories to share that are good of Granny…they are memories of when she was happy.
For example, when she attended Tim’s wedding. I could tell she was happy, very happy to be able to attend her Grandson’s wedding.
And I could tell she was happy when she was able to go to the Oyster Party at the lodge this past Winter.
I could tell she was happy when she was visited, when she was given gifts at Christmas and when she was told she was loved.
When I saw her being happy, It made me happy. And those are my good memories of Granny.
I think being loved and having someone recognize/appreciate you no matter what you accomplish in life is one of the greatest gifts one can receive.
That is why I loved Granny.
