The American Flag

Red White, & Blue
Thirteen Stripes = Representing the Thirteen Original Colonies
Fifty Stars = Representing All the States in the Union
The Flag represents the fabric our Nation is made from
Strong--It will bend but will not break
Powerful--It can make grown men and women cry when it is lowered to half-staff.
Commanding—Draws a salute from thousands of men and women every day.
In America it stands for Freedom for everyone no matter who you are or what you
believe in.

In some countries it stands as a symbol for Hope.

Men have Died for it, and been Buried with it.

It covers the caskets of our fallen Heroes with Respect and Honor for their Sacrifice.

When you stand at a sporting event or somewhere that the National Anthem is playing, Do Not Stand because everyone else is standing—Stand because you are Proud that the National Anthem, and our Flag represent Your Freedoms.

When you look at the Red Stripes remember all the Blood that has been shed to keep that Flag Flying.

When you look at the White Stripes think about that White piece of paper with all your Freedoms spelled out that we call the Constitution of America.

When you look at the Stars think about how Bright Our Future is because we all stand together, all Fifty States as one, in the Greatest Nation in the World.

When you look at the Blue beneath the stars think about how many Men In Blue Coats Died at the Birth Of Our Nation to give you what you have today.

When you look at the Flag think about all that it stands for and be Proud You Are An American.

Hi Robert. I don't quite know how to say this - and I honestly do not wish to insult you - we don't know each other - but for me this jingoistic crap gets on my tits mate ;-) 1)"Greatest Nation in the World" - you are having a laugh mate! Those days have gone and it will take more than a few Obamesque months to get it back and I am frankly sick of Americans feeling they have some god given right to police the planet without first consulting me ;) 2) "stands for Freedom for everyone no matter who you are or what you believe in." - Where have you been Robert? Most of the planet is puking at the torture and infringement of human rights perpetrated by the good old usa. Oh and did I mention that good old license to kill and remove 'undesirables' - the death penalty? I would like to attempt to helpfully give you my answer to your question regarding improving your writing. ;-) I know it is perhaps best to write what you know but this is the last time I will bother to comment on one of your pieces like this. Now you may be saying 'thank fuck for that' and that's fair enough but on a more serious note my suggestion is that you write about something else! In order to attract the assistance you are asking for you will need to write something that people want to read and if my reaction is anything to go by the only people who are going to like this are head in the sand Americans and I've only come across one (not you) on here so far. You seem like a nice guy from our previous dialogue so I hope that you can find your way clear to writing something that people on this board want to read and I hope they do assist you. Hey! Who knows? Perhaps I'm wrong and they'll all come flooding out of the woodwork to support you and help you wave the flag now. lol Good luck mate J.

Hey Jupiter I appreciate any feedback good or bad. I only wrote this piece originaly to share with my family to encourage them to show respect for all the young men & women who sacrificed their lives for their freedoms. Yes we here in America need to get our house in order, but so does the world. I happen to be a conservative with a liberal heart, so sometimes I am a little too idealistic in the dream that we all get along. Just because you may have a different opinion then I do does not mean I have to dislike you. Even in other arenas of life two people can look at something and see it differently. In baseball there are arguements all the time about what the other person saw as "safe" or "out". My writing started out just to leave a record behind to my family about how I feel about things, I guess I need to re-evaluate my writing to express things from a more realistic view point if I am going to share it with others. Thanks for the input, and stay in touch. P.S. I am still learning about who is using this format, & how it is being recieved.

Hi Robert. Thanks for taking what I said in the way you did. My problem was not with you, rather with what was being said. I have just read and commented on your piece 'Inspiration' which I liked. :-) Cheers.
