Child, listen

Child, listen to me and I’ll give you the one piece of advice you’ll ever need
I wrote down the story of your life years ago
Before I ever knew your name
I wrote a line between our lives and I haven’t since stopped writing
Every sentence ends in madness
Every line depicts a scene
In the verses, the tales I can tell from your life.
I've been watching you child, watching from a distance
When was the last time you smiled on the inside?
The last time your free flowing thoughts gave off kindness?
When was the last time happiness was a comprehendible thought
Held close to your heart; a dream of some sort
Let me look at you, child
Why are you so sad? Was it always this bad?
Go back to time when you felt alive
Remember that moment, remember that time
That verse in the never ending song of your life
Your senses were a lifetime ago
The warmth of feeling loved
The sight and sound of laughter
It takes the world away from you
Leaving behind your room full of fears
The truth you have lived these past few years
Poor, poor child
And it never hurts enough, does it?
Child, listen to me; to the one piece of advice you will need
I wrote the story of your life a long time ago
And I cried at every happy ending
Of every tragic book
Willing the characters into my life
Avert your eyes from shiny objects
Block out the voices you don't hear
What is shiny is sharp
And what has only a voice must be void of a heart
God has blessed you, child
Blessed you with life
Blessed you with a body
Blessed you with smooth skin
Blessed you with a heart
God has blessed you, child
It isn't how you'd planned on living
That was a dream that drifted away
But child, you are so beautiful
In so many ways
And there is always something in the world
Always someone who loves you dearly
And what I can assure you, child
There is never nothing
Always something that flows through this world
Like the bell of creation, endlessly swinging
Propelled by its own love, never to give up
Like you, child
The bell does not want to stop
And you, I know you child
You're not ready to give up yet
