Some news today stuck in my brain
A young girl killed beneath a train,
She slipped whilst waving off a friend.
A sad, cruel way for life to end.
If it's true that God is good
If I were him I think I would,
Deal his folk a fairer hand
His 'goodness' then I might understand

Those of you who swear by God
May think my protestations odd,
Yet if indeed it was God's will
It seems to me a cruel act still.
Perhaps his will is to standby
Not intervene as his folk die,
To take them then unto his hand
His 'goodness' then I might understand.

I think this is where faith comes in, or maybe fate, or even Karma, more likly just a sheer bloody pointless accident. we all just beetles on the dung heap to Him. :~{

Let me put my two penn'orth in. People have come up with many attempts to answer the question you ask, e g Things go wrong because man is always breaking God's rules (though it is hard to know how that applies to this case), or, Who are we to assert what God should or shouldn't do, or, if God always intervened when things went wrong we would be puppets, not people. Sometimes, though, the people who suffer most, far from turning their back on God, pray all the harder. In Haiti after the earthquake there was a national time of prayer, though we didn't hear much about that on the News.
