Why Oh Why?

The Day started off sunny and bright
No hint of pain coming later that night.
So during the morning we all did our thing,
I cleaned the house, while the children
Went out.

Then came the night so fast and thick,
Nothing prepared me for what was about to begin,
I was enjoying a rest, after another day of mayhem and a long list of chores,
Raising four children isn't always bliss,

When suddenly out of the dim yet open door way, stood my daughter
Screaming in pain, doing things I never want to see again,
Then out of her hand dropped a bottle of pills
Didn't take me long to realize is not a minor thing.

So off to the hospital we all had to go,
Feeling out of control and sad,
I had no choice but to hold back my fears, and lots of tears,
To be there for my Child that lost her way,
Wish she had said something through the day.
I'm now blaming myself, Trying to figure out what I did wrong
Or why I never read the signs
I hope she never leaves us today!!!!!

Hi Prettyrose, What a very tragic poem, I can relate to this one, because when my son was a teenager, he's twenty eight now by the way. Anyway when he was a teenager, I had to break down the bathroom door, because he tried to drown himself in the bath. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had, seeing your only son laying eyes closed under the water. I hope that the child was okay in this poem. Jenny.

Hi Jenny, firstly thank you for taking the time to read my poems/stories. Yes it's sad and it breaks my heart when teenagers, children hurt themselves because they feel there is no other way or answer. That must of been so awful for you, I can only imagine how that must of felt doing and seeing that. And I am glad your son is still with us. And thank you yes she is better but it will be a long road!! T x

Hi Prettyrose, It must be so hard for teenagers today, it seems to get harder, as each generation grows. I remember when I was a teenager during the sixties, and seventies. I know I had it hard, but I never had the pressures they have today. I count myself very lucky, I have never ever felt suicidal in my life, thank goodness. Tell your daughter from me, that honestly as you get older, things don't necessarily become easier, but you do get wiser, it's also so much easier when people treat you like an adult and have a little bit more respect for you. Hi Jenny here again, just wanted to say, it's not your fault, I promise you, whatever the problems your children have, as long as life outside keeps throwing bad things their way, it's going to affect them. You just have to be there, when they need a listening ear. But quite often parants are the last people to find out. Sorry to ramble on, I just wanted to let you know I understand. Jenny.
