Emotional chaos in meadow trenches

Don't expect shape or form to come from this pen
just heartfelt words that tell of chaos
this is just the beginning another round
as rockets explode...
A clumsy middle aged ballerina
you stick out protrude, don't belong
among the buttercups and white yellow daisies
alien, misguided here is my summer bed
I lay on my back to gaze on passing clouds
but peace is brief, unwittingly it is fleeting,
it is in a hurry, imagination and fear
they start to race they start to run
noises abrupt, huge increasing now it is starting
it has begun, another round of rapid fire
as rockets explode...
Accusations launched they hit the target
sparks fly in a summer sky papers drop to the floor
guilt spreads, a rampant blaze shows its hand
looks ugly on your face..
Black and white hard are the words
you throw at me hand grenades
ridges of metal small uniform shapes
feel comfortable in your rugged palm
but throw them quick create your distraction
run and hide underground....
But you spin, you turn you aim you fire
the gun metal of the pistol
burns hot on your fingers
as you run into the cutting barbed wire
that draws blood from your skin
as the stinging nettle burns it stings
you scream at the blood
and what you have done..
Monuments statues crumble
solid values dreams ideals
trophies for the fireplace
lay scattered shattered
as another rocket explodes..
I took you back held your hand
showed you childhood places
thinking you would understand
but it's another round of rapid gunfire
emotional chaos as rockets explode...
