A night in stars

He calls me up one night
He tells me what we'll do
His voice is strong and caring
calm, collected too
Out on the town for drinks
a tall martini glass
go to a private party
with his fans en masse
He takes the world in hand
Rewrites the night in stars
When I am with him we
Are on a trip to mars
The girls, they gather ‘round
Turn hips and dance, give looks
Women can be bitches
Follow rules from books
But he just smiles and laughs
Knows that he’s just a prize
And with only kindness
Cuts them down to size
He takes the world in hand
Rewrites the night in stars
When I am with him we
Are on a trip to mars
That moment on the roof
When music drifts away
And all the party people
Are living on display
He takes a corner seat
He looks into my eyes
Without a second’s thinking
He can improvise
A time to edify
A talk to clarify
And he calm, assures
There will be no good-bye
He takes the world in hand
Rewrites the night in stars
When I am with him we
are on a trip to mars.
