I don’t know if this is how to be a person

Spend a lot of time, sitting it out
on thin gym benches,

feel older than everyone you meet,
make a commitment to conversation

look eyes in the love,
take a long line of decisions and knit,

make yourself complete
the scarf by Christmas.

Do Jacobs ladder, Chinese box,
rubrix personality routines.

Be an installation of a heart hurting,
set fire to the gallery.

Save only the shark and the bed scene.
Lie on sofas, blowing quit smoke at ceilings,

Hold your eye sockets with glove puppet fingers,
tenderly, tap them, when they wake up,
they will join in.
