I SAW AN AD FOR SANDALS

I saw an ad for Sandals
Not those which grace one's feet
But resorts in sunny climes
With sea and sand replete.
As I sat there watching
I thought "that looks quite nice",
Besides when you've no money
It's dear at half the price.
I'd like to think a Lotto win
Or eight draws on the pools,
Could mean one day we'd go there
Yet I fear we'd break the rules.
The folk in the commercial
All have a great physique,
Gorgeous women, hunky men
All young and at their peak.
Even those much older
Look well preserved and fit,
The guts look trim, the boobs don't sag. . .
Now here's the awkward bit.
I think my hubby's gorgeous
He says I don't look bad,
Yet we'll never measure up
To the people in that ad.
Although we've got our passports
If our shots were up to date,
Compare us to the advert
At best we're second rate.
So even if the money
Was found to pay our way,
I fear they would not let us go
To where the gorgeous play.
*********
I saw an ad for sandals
The kind which grace one's feet,
Half price in the sales
At a price that can't be beat.
They're put by for our travels
I'm not sure where will stay,
They won't care what we look like
So long as we can PAY!
