If You Were

If you were a colour,
You’d be yellow bringing sun.
If you were a mood,
You’d be happiness and fun.
If you were a touch,
You’d be a baby’s fingers.
Innocent and loving,
On my lips.
But if you were a memory,
You’d be my saddest thought.
For that would mean,
That you were gone.
No longer by my side.
Be anything you want to be,
But never be gone from me.
If you were a painting,
You’d be beautiful to see,
If you were a poem,
You’d be words of love to me.
If you were a hope,
You’d be the letter from a friend,
Sharing news and laughter,
Full of joy.
But if you were a memory,
You’d be my saddest thought.
For that would mean,
That you were gone.
No longer by my side.
Be anything you want to be.
But never be gone from me.
Be anything you want to be
But never be a memory.
